Kiwanis Structure

Kiwanis International has a four-tier structure – the local club, divisions, districts and Kiwanis International as a whole.

Over 270,535 individual Kiwanians worldwide are members of the most basic unit, the local Kiwanis Club.  The Sand Lake Kiwanis Club is one of over 8,400 such clubs in 96 nations or geographic areas.

Geographically adjacent clubs are grouped into a division – the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club is a member of the Van Rensselaer Division. The other clubs of our division are the Kiwanis Clubs of Castleton-on-Hudson, Hoosick Falls, Rensselaer, Troy and North Greenbush.

Divisions are grouped into districts – our district is the New York District of Kiwanis International and includes all the Kiwanis Clubs in the state. There are approximately 8,300 Kiwanians in the 286 clubs of the NY District.  There are 27 divisions in the NY District.
