PROGRAM #1

          Paul Vincent gave an overview of the history of Crooked Lake House, which, he did acknowledge, was probably better known by those of us who have been around for “a while”.  Paul and his wife Donna bought the property 9 months ago from Mark Hammond who had inherited it from Dalmar Tifft.  Both men had purchased it from the estate of Al Coons who had operated the establishment until about 20 years ago.  Paul admitted that he “wanted the place” ever since he had seen it when Al Coons was the owner, and that he and Donna are trying to restore it to the way it was at that time.  They hope to make it appealing to the community, and have been amazed at how many people have “a connection” to it, via weddings, anniversaries, proms, etc.  Most want it back “the way it used to be”, a special place for special events.  This coming Sunday will see a ballet presentation to an expected 300 people, with lots of little kids.  New Year’s Eve will be a big night, featuring the Swing Docs Band.  Paul very much wants to bring back the famous Winter Carnival, and hopes SLK will be involved.   He also plans to have a car show this summer.

PROGRAM #2

          Sec Dave Booker gave a video presentation showing the use and advantages of the new Club Management Software that is now available to the Club.  Once in place, and after officers and committee chairs become familiar with its use, this tool, newly approved by Kiwanis International, will relieve them of the tedious drudgery of reports, and keep track of activities and those who have volunteered to work on them.  Multiple phone calls will be replaced by instant e-mails.  Now, all we have to do is learn how to use it!

HAPPY DOLLARS

$       Sarah:  We’ve made a bid on a house, and are waiting to hear the results, imminently!

$       Eve:  Son Bob Irwin came in 5th overall in the 10K Troy Turkey Trot!

$       Booker:  Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Ruggieros in VT; 300 people ate in a barn!

$       Jim Rogers:  Great 2 wk trip with the Trupias to Branson, MO—saw 14 shows!

$       Citrus Joe Behson:  It snowed on Mt Snow!  I’ll be up there very soon!

$       Chris:  Happy to have Nurse Flanagan here!

$       Brownrigg:  Enjoyed trip to UT, CO, AZ, seeing 8 national parks, 3 state parks, covered 2100 miles in 10 days.  Also visited nieces & nephews who talked us into getting tattoos!  {Of course we insisted John show off his “Silver Eagle”—Suzanne got a cat’s paw on her ankle!}

$       Gary:  Youngest son came from MO with his new wife of 2 mos, who’s very nice, quiet, shy... {“THAT’S the kind of wife to have!” comment by K.N.}  Of course, like all my other kids, this one also took his $100 and went back to MO to see his mother—who’s still too damn close!!

$       Pablo:  We will be one of the coffee vendors at the Chocolate Expo in the State Museum this Sunday, and Island Bob will offer his truffles, too.  {Free admission vouchers were circulated}

$       Pablo also announced that Fri Dec 1st will be JavaNet’s 1st anniversary, and he will have the 5 O’Clock Charlie Band playing beginning at 10 PM.

DOOR PRIZE, provided by Booker, was won by Mikki McSherry!

50/50 for $22 was won by Chris Blais!
