Ø Pres Joe reported that our first “Invite a Community Guest Night” was very successful, and he plans to do this each second Monday, (the week following our Board meeting). We want to spread the word about Kiwanis and what we do, so invite someone from town to be your guest, hopefully for a really good program, but please notify Dudley so there will be an abundant buffet table. Last week we had about 40 people here! Pres Joe plans to reward the SLK who brings the most “community guests”…… ?! {He didn’t say how!!}

PROGRAM
Chet Melius introduced his neighbor Julia Kelly, who spoke first as a Miller Hill Elementary School parent, thanking SLK for our support of the playground-rebuilding project.
The ARC,
formerly called Association for Retarded
Children, now serves adults as well, and provides services in integrated,
small settings. They help with living arrangements, vocational training,
sheltered employment, community participation, adult day programs, recreation
& summer camp activities, disabled seniors, health & wellness, financial
advice, holistic planning, transportation, and advocacy with agencies. Julia
offered Happy Dollars to anyone who knew how many people were employed at ARC,
(715 full & part time, won by IPP Bob); how many are being supported by ARC
programs, (410, won by Mikki); and how many disabled adults are employed,
(100, won by Jim Colabelli). ARC is innovative; it assists individuals
residing independently, operates a small business center cooperatively with
HVCC, provides mentors for health & wellness, and helps with employee
retention. How can we help? Monetary donations, and volunteering!
Joe Cybulski presented Julia with our Certificate of Appreciation for her interesting program.
HAPPY DOLLARS
$ Dale, in appreciation for ARC’s assistance received by his 2 nephews!
$ Past Pres Bob: Returned Julia’s $, and matched it for a very knowledgeable program!
$ Kevin Sarsfield: Had a great visit in CA with our son!
$ Booker: Woke up with the phrase, “Be afraid, ….be VERY afraid…!” running through my mind, but I can’t quite remember whose voice it was…! THE SOX ARE IN THE SERIES!
$ Colabelli: Matched and returned Julia’s $!
$ Rogers: Visited family in the Finger Lakes area—beautiful weekend. And I PAID my pledge to Dave!
$ Botsy: Worked the Food Trailer with Colabelli yesterday. Boy, he’s a hard worker! {Huh?}
$ Mikki: Matched and returned Julia’s $!
$ Brownrigg: A “concerned” dollar because of Chet’s transformation. When he was president, he dressed formally, and was serious, but was totally opposite in his behavior under Pres Bob’s administration. Now tonight, he appears once again in formal attire and demeanor. Please, under that suit and tie, there must be the real Chet—come back!
$ Joe Cub: I’m happy that John is finished with that dissertation!
DOOR PRIZE, a bottle of wine provided by Chet, was won by Little Joe! (Gave it to Julia!)
50/50 for $20 was won by Botsy!
MEGA 50/50, tonight up to $206.60, foiled the efforts of Dudley DooRight, who drew out the Ace of Hearts from the remaining 37 cards!
NEXT WEEK PROGRAM: A surprise, by Doug Baldrey!
