Christmas show, and dinner at Carmine’s Restaurant. Checks must be written by

PRESIDENT
ALISON presented a review of her administrative year, stating
it was one of relief and sadness.
We
had to say goodbye to our last remaining Charter Member Phil Pierce, and we
miss him greatly. We initiated a holiday party for the seniors, worked with
the Garden Club on refurbishing Butler Park, provided a venue for our youth
bands, and helped form a Circle K at Sage. We continued to supply
refreshments at various venues via our food trailer, distributed food and toys
to those in need at Christmas time and Valentine’s Day, and provided the town
with our popular SummerFest, despite the Great Flood of 2006, which couldn’t
sink us due to the supreme efforts of all SLKs and their families, AND the
National Guardsmen! Despite losing about ¼ of my term to mononucleosis,
activities continued on schedule, thanks to Pres-Elect Bob and Sec Dave.
Enjoy the cookies and poem at each place. I learned what it means to be
a Kiwanian from all of you, and I thank you!

LT GOV KILEEN proceeded with the installation of SLK’s new leaders, by proclaiming that Alison now becomes our Immediate Past President, remaining a member of the Board as advisor to the new officers. She thanked the outgoing Directors, Barb Fioravanti, Ken James, and Bill Whipple for their service, and installed the new Directors, Bryce Cutler, Sarah Parslow, and Jim Rogers. The continuing Directors, Jim Colabelli, Fred Jeschke, Kelly Stone, Chris Blais, Ron Wagner, and Eve Ward were encouraged to stay enthusiastic. Secretary Dave, our “unsung hero”, and Treasurer Bob Pasquarelli, were encouraged to continue their good work. Vice President Jerry Tysiak and Pres-Elect Joe Behson were asked to consider the charges to our new President, Bob Loveridge as their own, since they are in a position to learn the duties of president, the highest honor a Club can bestow on a member. President Bob asked his father Ray, a former SLK, and the reason Bob became a Kiwanian, to stand with him for his installation, after which Ray pinned on the president’s pin.

PRESIDENT BOB thanked everyone for trusting him with the responsibility of guiding SLK through another year, and declared this club to be unique in its support of projects. His theme for his administrative year will be to educate and inform the public about SLK, its goals and its accomplishments. Most people respect and accept the club, but have no real knowledge about the organization. We should have a formal PR program, with an educational spot at each meeting so members can learn about Kiwanis traditions and history. He hopes this will widen our membership, and he would also like to see a “Kiwanis Auxiliary”, perhaps with a special shirt in recognition of the many family members and friends who so faithfully work on our projects. Further, he would like to create a Welcoming Committee of Kiwanians to greet any new residents to our community.
IPP ALISON was presented with an Outstanding Service Plaque, and a tiny bell, so she can continue to enjoy “ringing the bell”!

PRES BOB received a HUGE
Kiwanis ring {“where do I wear this?”} from Booker!
Special thanks were given to Eve Ward for organizing, planning and decorating for this event. Pennies under chairs denoted who won the centerpieces and plants on each table.
