The second from the band “Overture” thanking us for the invitation to play at Summerfest.
And the last from our friends at Carlsberg Promotional Printing, ever grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to produce the t-shirts, banners and visors for Summerfest.
Ø There are eight members who are now over a month in arrears to the club as they have not paid their 2007-08 dues which were due on July First. Letters to each to be sent shortly.

Ø Joe Cub thanked the several members and their guests who were among the over 0ne hundred who enjoyed the Music in the Park concert by the Bill Dexter Quartet.
Ø Eve announced that all the members but two members have their tickets to the Valley Cats BASEBALL GAME Mon Aug 20. Woodie and Clayton will have to make arrangements with her to get their tickets before the game.
Ø BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: as is the club’s custom we observed the month’s birthdays and anniversaries with song and Eve’s cake (angle food with sauce and strawberries this time). Eager to receive the club’s recognition of her birthday was Mikki (the only member with an August birthday!); present, but without their spouses, celebrating August anniversaries were Chris (and Robin Blais), Joe (and Carol Cybulski) & Joe (and Patricia Grillo) absent, and presumably with their respective spouses, Fred & Lisa Jeschke, Jeff & Sharon Lawrence, Armand & Ellen Mills, Bruce & Sally Perry, Bob & Deborah Reiter and Kevin & Phillis Sarsfield.

Mikki (l) and Joe Grillo, Chris Blais & Joe Cybulski (up to our usual standards
the singing was not as bad as Joe Cub might want us to believe!)
PROGRAM:
Eve, as the Chair (and only member) of the Social Committee, in a VERY concise way described the functions of the committee. Working with the House Committee and the Lakeview the special arrangements are arranged for the “special events” of the year (the Officer Installation, the Holiday Party and any special guest nights), she also makes the arrangements for the annual Steak and Lobster Party, the Valley Cats Outing and the Post Summerfest Picnic. She also ensures that “get well” and sympathy cards are available when appropriate. The members expressed their appreciation for her brevity.
HAPPY DOLLARS
$ Joe Cub used the opportunity to specifically thank “Erstwhile President” Joe for attending the Sunday concert and encouraged those who missed it to attend the next.
$ Eve was grateful for the concert and appreciated the young girl who encouraged our own Joe Cub with a thumbs up and “good job” after he sang with the quartet.
$ Chris had two: the first for the “vocal stylings” of Joe and the second in grateful appreciation for Botsy’s house call to cut Chris’s father’s hair.
$ Ken James enjoyed his three weeks in Wyoming on Casper Mountain with a friend who is going to open a 7000 plus square foot bed and breakfast and he has pictures to prove it.
$ Barb – for the great extended weekend that she and Gene spent with the extended family.
$ Botsy, in true Kiwanis fashion, for the opportunity to serve the club by carrying in the 50 pounds of angle food cake that Eve brought tonight,
$ Jim Colabelli wanted to celebrate three things, a short (or was it a “quickie”?) weekend in York, ME with Jan, seeing their daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter and for his recent decision to spend some of his children’s inheritance and get himself a new Chevy Silverado.
$ Dick Johnsen shared with the club that the generous members of the Schenectady church that he had been temporarily serving as pastor had given him a gift a part of which he used to purchase a light kayak to replace his old and very heavy canoe. He is now looking for members or friends with lake front property.
$ Joe Behson used the opportunity to describe his pleasure of knowing and working with Dennis for some 14 years and also for the celebration that he, his 94 year old uncle and the extended family (including great grandchildren) had at the Arlington House for his mother on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
$ Bill Whipple happily told the club of his recent trip to Milwaukee and Beerfest, he also celebrated Sue’s birthday.
DRAWINGS:
DOOR PRIZE provided by Eve, dinner for two with entertainment (2 tickets for a September Valley Cats game with vouchers for hot dogs and soda) was won by John Brownrigg.
50/50 for $24 was won by Jeremy who promptly paid a “Happy Dollar” without explanation.
MEGA 50/50 has grown to $95.00 but will grow some more, as Eve picked the 10 of Hearts from the 45 cards left in the deck.
