PROGRAM

Interclub Chair Fred Wurtemberger explained that SLK needs 4 or more members to attend a regular meeting of another club to qualify for interclub credit. Smaller clubs need fewer. Interclubs are fun, sociable, and educational, promoting fellowship with other clubs, and learning about different projects and activities. A Round Robin is achieved by visiting all the clubs in the division, and an Interclub Blitz is visiting all clubs in one week! SLK has completed many Round Robins, and in the past, has also completed a few Blitzes! We have also gone considerable distances to interclubs in Montreal, Long Island, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and most recently, to York, Maine. Members contributed memories of interclubs: the Ovid Race in the Hudson River, lunch in Canada, and drink less lunches in Hoosick Falls, The Patroon Inn running out of dinners and substituting hot dogs, and wives of lieutenant governors happily wondering, “Where are we eating tonight?” We even spend a long weekend in Maine when we go to the York Kiwanis Club meeting, which is becoming a fall tradition! More members should consider going on these interclubs—they will really enjoy themselves!
HAPPY DOLLARS
$ Joe Cybulski, for a great week in Phoenix where it was 103 degrees in a dust storm one day, and snow the next!
$ Armand Mills: Went to Canada and spent 5 hours crossing the border, but passed right through coming home—wearing a Red Sox coat helped! Also, requesting prayers for my wife who is having surgery at Albany Med.
$ Bryce: Never got to Chicago—trip postponed due to pneumonia. Glad to be here tonight!
$ Joe Behson, for Rocket Dollars! For forward thinking Yankees getting Roger Clemens away from Boston!
$ Gary: Many years ago when I lived with my girlfriend in Philmont, I attended the former Hudson Kiwanis Club meetings. Then she started pressuring. First the cat left, then the dog, then my son…….and I left, too! But after an interclub to Hudson, I offered her a life on Oak Hill Road, but she insisted on marriage. Dick Johnsen did the honors, and on New Year’s Day I arose a single man, but went to bed married! {The ED makes no claim for accuracy or truth in regard to the previous narrative!}
$ Jim Rogers, for being elected an officer in the Colonie Chapter of Mayflower Descendants. When the Governor General visited Albany, 4 couples attended at the Desmond.
$ Bill Whipple: Celebrated several family birthdays with one of Eve’s great cakes! And I, too, saw a moose, on Rt 66 near the Hollywood Drive-In!
$ John Glasser: I was also in Phoenix, with my son, and visited the Grand Canyon—awesome! We saw moose, too. Great trip, and I only got two tickets!
DOOR PRIZE, a gift certificate to Slow Jed’s provided by Fred, was won by Barb Fioravanti!
50/50 for $23 was won by Skip Patton!
MEGA 50/50 did it again! The $494.50 will keep growing, because the King of Clubs eluded Eve’s best efforts to find it. She picked the Jack of Diamonds!
